- The past sure has a way of repeating itself. How many times in history has a " liberation war " been launched in order to free a certain people from their oppressive government and /or conditions ? Wasn't World War Two fought in order to " free " Occupied Europe from the tyranny of the Axis powers ? In the end ,the ''allies" would turn against each other ( The United States , Great Britain, and France against The Soviet Union ) use the " liberated " territories to increase their sphere of influence and become bitter enemies launching the cold war . The Korean War;was a dispute originating from the " liberation"of Korea from the Japanese Empire; The result : Capatalist South Korea vs. Communist North Korea. The Vietnam War was another " liberation " war in which The Communist North Vietmanese wanted to liberate the Capitalist South from the French and later the U.S . Fastforward to the first Gulf War; America occupies Kuwait in order to "liberate " them from Iraq. The Second Gulf War, America occupies Iraq in order to ''liberate" Iraq from Saddam Hussein . What of Libya and Gaddafi ? Not to beat a dead horse here, but do you ,dear reader seee the pattern? If the '' liberation " of Syria brings us into another war, will we truely liberate them or as history has shown , become their captors? Is this just a continuation of the cold war tactics of devide and conquer between Capitalism and Communism? Does this all sound far fetched? Remember that Communist China and the former Soviet Union vetoed any resolution by The United Nations.

In a way i can understand why Russia and China veto'd looking at how they decide to rule their countries..they probably fear that one day they too.. could share similar fates. Personally i think the Syrians do need help.. just not by us.. leave that for the Arab League. we worry about the affairs of others too much while our own people go hungry and die.
